Trifocal Lenses
Overview
For patients who want to reduce their reliance on glasses as much as medically possible, Trifocal lenses (also known as multifocal implants) offer the most advanced technology available today. As the name suggests, these lenses split light to provide clear, focused vision across all three essential distances. Trifocal lens implants offer the greatest spectacle independence, but does have the need for your brain to adapt to (neuro-adaptation), which can take several months. They also do have a risk of glare, haloes, starbursts and night time visual issues and reduced contrast sensitivity.
The Three Zones of Vision:
- Near Vision: Comfortable reading for books, menus, sewing, and looking at your mobile phone.
- Intermediate Vision: Crisp focus for computer screens, tablets, and conversation distances across a dinner table.
- Distance Vision: Sharp clarity for driving, watching television, and enjoying beautiful landscapes.
